Luis Otavio Affonso
Luis Otavio Affonso graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 through URFJ, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. He obtained a MSc in Mechanical Engineering through USP, Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil.
Mr. Affonso joined PETROBRAS, the Brazilian state owned oil company in 1985. He spent most of this time working with machinery maintenance, troubleshooting and reliability improvements.
In the last few years, his activities have changed to specification and installation of new machinery in new processing units and machinery troubleshooting consultant countrywide within PETROBRAS and privately to other companies.
He has also served as teacher in some Brazilian and foreign institutions, teaching Machinery Failure Analysis and Turbomachinery Performance Evaluation. Mr. Affonso has presented several papers discussing turbomachinery issues in several congresses worldwide.
