Cliff Cook

Clifford P. Cook

Clifford P. (Cliff) Cook retired from ChevronTexaco and is President of CVC Engineering, in Houston, Texas. He provides turbomachinery consulting services to the process industries with 42 years' experience. He is a ChevronTexaco Fellow, Emeritus, and is Chairman Emeritus and past Vice Chairman of the API Subcommittee on Mechanical Equipment and member of its Steering Committee. He is Chairman of API RP 687 and API SOME Standard Paragraphs, and past Chairman of API 613 and 677.

Mr. Cook is a member of API 617, 616, 614, and past member of API 610, 684 Tutorial, and 618. He also serves on the ANSI Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 67 Subcommittee 6. He has been a member of the Texas A&M Turbomachinery Symposium Advisory Committee since 1993.

Mr. Cook has a B.S. degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, and an M.S. degree (Mechanical Engineering) from Lehigh University.

John Dufour

John Dufour

John Dufour retired from Amoco Oil Company after twenty-five years of service, Mr. Dufour's professional career includes many corporate management assignments including: Manager of Engineered Equipment Sourcing world-wide; Chief Engineer, Mechanical Equipment Services for Amoco's Refining and Transportation Company; Rotating Equipment Consultant; as well as several other management, administrative, and field positions.

He is the former Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute's Subcommittee on Mechanical Equipment where he was responsible for developing and maintaining the API rotating equipment standards.

Mr. Dufour is the author of numerous rotating equipment technical papers, training manuals, specifications, and handbooks, that have been published and used world-wide. He is the co-author of the book Centrifugal Pump Sourcebook (McGraw Hill - New York).

Mr. Dufour is currently the president and owner of Dufour Consulting Services, located in Houston, Texas. He provides rotating equipment consulting and training services on: rotating equipment fundamentals, field trouble shooting, acceptance testing, specifications, TAR planning, equipment reliability programs, and the facilitation of strategic purchasing processes.

His clients includes, original equipment manufactures, contractors and end users from a variety of international hydrocarbon process, equipment manufacture, pipeline, and power industries.

Jigger Jumonville

Jigger Jumonville

Jigger Jumonville is a Senior Consulting Engineer for Mafi-Trench Company, in Santa Maria, California. He has been with them since 1990 and has held many titles including Chief Engineer. Mr. Jumonville is currently involved in mechanical, aerodynamic, and magnetic bearing product upgrades, as well as troubleshooting unusual field problems. Previously, he worked for 10 years at the Dow Chemical Company, in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Five of those years were spent as the Rotating Equipment Engineer in a world scale ethylene plant.

Mr. Jumonville received his B.S. degree (Mechanical Engineering, 1979) from Louisiana State University. While in school, he was a member of various honorary societies, including Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi. He is a part-time professor at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where he teaches a senior level Mechanical Engineering course in turbomachinery. Mr. Jumonville is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana.

Malcolm Leader

Malcolm E. Leader

Malcolm E. Leader, P.E. is a Turbomachinery Consultant and Owner of Applied Machinery Dynamics in Dickinson, Texas. He is currently involved in the design, testing, modification, and installation of rotating equipment. He spends time doing theoretical design audits and working in the field implementing changes and overseeing installations.

Mr. Leader has written several papers on the subjects of experimental rotordynamics, bearing design, design audits for rotating equipment, and practical implementation of rotordynamic programs.

Jeff Moore

Dr. J. Jeffrey Moore

Dr. J. Jeffrey Moore is a principal engineer at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, TX. His professional experience includes engineering and management responsibilities at Dresser-Rand in Olean, NY and Solar Turbines Inc. in San Diego, CA. His interests include rotordynamics, seals and bearings, finite element analysis, and aerodynamics.

He has authored over ten technical papers in the area of rotordynamics and aerodynamics and has given numerous tutorials and lectures. He holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) from Texas A&M University.

Jim Sorokes

James M. Sorokes

James M. (Jim) Sorokes joined Dresser-Rand (formerly Dresser-Clark) in 1976 as an Aerodynamic Engineer. He was named Supervisor of the Aerodynamics Group in 1984 and held various other positions in that group until 2004. His responsibilities included the design and analysis of all aerodynamic components in centrifugal compressors. He was also extensively involved in various compressor development projects, single stage test rig test programs, resolution of test stand and field performance problems, etc. As Manager of the Aero/Thermo Design Group (2001 - 2004), his responsibilities were expanded to include aerodynamic design and analysis activities for all Dresser-Rand turbomachinery.

In 2004, Mr. Sorokes accepted the position of Manager of Development Engineering. In that role, he managed all product and process development efforts conducted at Dresser-Rand's Southern Tier Operations. In 2005, Mr. Sorokes was assigned to a special project that focused on improving Dresser-Rand's position in the large turbomachinery market. His responsibilities included leading a team that developed a novel, full-scale test vehicle used to conduct research on heavy hydrocarbon applications. In 2007, Mr. Sorokes became a Principal Development Engineer responsible for the various development test programs as well as training and mentoring new engineers at Dresser-Rand.

Mr. Sorokes is a member of AIAA, ASME, and the ASME Turbomachinery Committee. He has authored or co-authored numerous technical papers and has been an instructor at various seminars or tutorials at Texas A&M University, Dresser-Rand, etc. In 2008, Mr. Sorokes was elected a Fellow in the ASME.
