Registration open for short courses at Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Industry Summit

Registration is now open for full-day short courses to be held in advance of the Asia Turbomachinery & Pump (ATP) Industry Summit, hosted by the Turbomachinery Laboratory in Malaysia this summer.

ATP Industry Summit Short Courses
Attendees can choose from four short courses offered 9 July 2019:
• Materials in Centrifugal Compressor and Steam Turbines: Selection, Processing and Repair
• Best Practices in Turbomachinery Maintenance & Reliability
• Compressors 101
• Machinery Applications in O&G

Each course, planned and led by industry experts, is designed to update the knowledge and skills of engineers and technicians across oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power and aerospace industries. The registration fee for each short course is $450 USD. Pre-registration is encouraged, as space is limited. Registration is available now at https://turbolab.tamu.edu/industrysummit/. Courses will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, adjacent to the KLCC.

ATP Industry Summit
Following the short courses, attendees are invited to stay for the free, two-day ATP Industry Summit, 10-11 July. The Industry Summit is an information-sharing and networking event with a single-track program. The program will include addresses from industry leaders including Petronas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Lectures will examine trends along with products and processes that focus on current and future industry needs and will include time for questions from the audience. The Malaysia Investment Development Authority address will identify goals and objectives for Malaysia specifically as they relate to oil and gas, petrochemical, aerospace, power, and water/wastewater applications.

Access to the ATP Industry Summit will be granted upon registration of a business card; no pre-registration necessary. However, interested delegates are invited to indicate their interest at https://turbolab.tamu.edu/industrysummit/.

Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium 2020
The ATP Industry Summit is an extension of the Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium (ATPS), which is modeled after the highly-respected Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia (TPS) held annually in Houston, Texas. ATPS, first held in Singapore in 2016 and again in 2018, is slated for 6-9 April 2020 in Kuala Lumpur with major sponsorship support coming from Petronas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The technical programs for both TPS and ATPS are curated by committees of industry leaders and include lectures, tutorials, case studies, discussion groups, technical briefs and panel sessions. Networking opportunities abound, including interactions with global leaders on the exhibit floor. ATPS also will include student poster sessions that facilitate extended interaction between students and the companies they will work for in the future.

“ATPS has attracted a great number of turbomachinery users,” said Rainer Kurz, systems and field testing manager at Solar Turbines who is also a Summit short course leader and Asia Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium adviser. “Both experts and people new to the field find new insights and solutions. The ATPS and ATP Industry Summit programs are unique in technical depth, providing great value for practicing rotating equipment engineers. It’s an opportunity to exchange ideas.”
